The MTN8 is a soccer cup competition one of the PSL’s major and domestic tournaments contested by the top eight teams from the previous season’s standings.
The cup is proudly sponsored by MTN, a top telecommunications company in South Africa. They’ve partnered with the premier league to sponsor the MTN8 cup competition since 2008.
The competition starts with the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals, which are played over two legs (home and away). The winners of the semi-finals then proceed to the final to determine the MTN8 champion.
All the teams compete for a whopping eight million rands (R8,000,000.00) for the competition winner, while the other seven teams take home R800,000.00 for participating in the games.
