    Player Ratings vs Liberia

Bafana coach Hugo Broos has put together an attacking squad to try to obtain the maximum points in today’s encounter.

Overall, South Africa is dominating the home game, not making it easy for the visitors to closer to our goalkeeper.

Here are our (Sport Plus) player ratings analyzed from the first half of the game so far.

    Williams 7/10

Not much is happening on his side as he mostly plays as a sweeper or last defense when they need him to distribute the ball. But also another long ball almost caught him off guard he handled that with ease.

    Morena 6/10

Playing a similar right-wing-back position at Sundowns, when he’s not helping in the defense, he’s always adding numbers in the attacking line. His side was attacked more, creating opportunities in the second half for Liberia.

    Mvala 6.7/10

Always gives his all to the national team and proved this again today with a solid performance. He seems to be struggling a bit against the Liberian striker whenever they compete for the ball.

    Xulu 6.5/10

Mostly does his job quietly and making those important long ball blockages and closes the attacking spaces on behalf of the wing-backs.

    Modiba 5.8/10

Playing a similar left-wing-back position at Sundowns, when he’s not helping in the defense, he’s always adding numbers in the attacking line. But was wasteful in some instances when he couldn’t deliver quality crosses.

    Le Roux 5/10

Did a lot of marking and when in possession of the ball, he’d lose it quite cheaply. But also good at issuing those dangerous cross-balls, and shifting play field in the game.

    Mokoena 7.5/10

A great defensive midfielder and delivers those needed long balls at the frontline. Always there when the ball is starting from the back.

    Zwane (Out) 8/10

A creative maestro, linking so well, the defensive midfielders and strikers. He seems to be playing a little bit deep, collecting the ball due to not enough delivery from the support players.

    Hlongwane (Out) 6.7/10

Fantastic attacking player, with a great combination play between Zwane and Tau. He’s too involved in the game so far, but hopefully, more balls will be shared along his side of the field.

    Tau 9/10

A high presser, giving the Liberia defense no chance to relax, thereby creating attacking and scoring opportunities for other players.

    Foster 9/10

Super striker, scoring a brace or two goals so far in the first half of this game.

    Sithole (in) 7/10

Sithole brought more life to the attacking midfield for South Africa.

    Saleng (in) 5/10

Saleng came in for Hlongwane and already facing a similar situation with fewer engagements on the ball. Really good on the ball, taking the defenders one on one.
