Mamelodi Sundowns continued their impressive run in the CAF Champions League, securing a 4-0 win over Mbabane Swallows in the second leg of the second preliminary round on Saturday night. The match, played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, saw Sundowns complete an 8-0 aggregate victory, comfortably booking their spot in the group stages of the prestigious competition.

Squad Rotation and Depth on Display

The hosts, who had already secured a 4-0 win in the first leg away from home, made a number of changes to their starting lineup, giving opportunities to players who had not seen much action this season. Despite the changes, Sundowns maintained their dominance throughout the match, showcasing their depth and quality.

    Goals Galore for the Brazilians

Kobamelo Kodisang opened the scoring in the first half, tapping in from close range after a neat cross from Thembinkosi Lorch. Sundowns continued to press in the second half, and their efforts were rewarded with goals from Malibongwe Khoza, Lorch, and Sphelele Mkhulise.

Sundowns vs Mbabane Results: Statement of Intent

The victory was a testament to Sundowns’ strength and ambition in the CAF Champions League. They will now turn their attention to the group stages, where they will face tougher opposition. However, based on their current form, Sundowns will be confident of making a deep run in the competition.

The win also highlighted the importance of squad depth, with several fringe players stepping up and delivering impressive performances. This will be crucial for Sundowns as they juggle their domestic and continental commitments. Things are starting to clear up for Sundowns dreams of clinching the trophy.

    CAFCL: Looking Ahead

Overall, it was a night of celebration for Sundowns and their fans. They will now eagerly await the group stage draw, hoping for a favorable group that will allow them to progress further in the competition.
