Mamelodi Sundowns has been participating in the CAF champions league and were crowned champions in 2014/15 season.
Since then, they have been struggling to reach the semi-finals, always getting knocked out by the Egyptian giant, Al Ahly.
However, Sundowns seems to have built a strong team going into this season’s CAF champions league and have already won their first two games of the group stages and into the semi-finals.

Sundowns bowed out of the CAF champions league without losing the game but with an away rule. They played against the defending champions, Wydad AC from Morocco. The two big teams in Africa drew 2-2 in the second leg of the semi-finals of the competition.
This is the end of the Sundowns CAF journey for the season 2022/23 and will try better next season.

Sundowns traveled to Algeria to face CR Belouizdad for their quarter-final first-leg match. The Brazilians won away from home with a heavy win scoring of 4 to 1 against Belouizdad. Sundows have at least one foot into the CAF semi-finals, which they have been struggling to get to since the last won the competition.

Sundowns will be hosting Coton Sport in their second leg and final group stage match. Coton Sport lost all their group stage matches and is currently sitting at the bottom of the log.
While at the same time, Al Ahly will be fighting for their place in the last game to qualify for the next round of the CAF 2022/23 competition.

Sundowns traveled to Saudi Arabia to meet with Al Hilal for their second group-stage match. Bafana Ba Style won their last encounter by 1 goal. Al Hilal have only lost to Sundowns in the group stages, defeating Al Ahly as well, making them the toughest and most competitive team in CAF Group B.
This game ended up with a 1-all draw, keeping the CAF group B log at the same positions but at different points.

Sundowns is hosted and defeated Al Ahly at home in South Africa with a heavy score (5:2). An incredible thrilling encounter between the two big teams in the African continent with Sundowns.
As it stands, Sundowns regain their top spot and are through to the CAF quarter-finals, while Al Ahly’s hopes are being challenged sitting on the third spot with 5 points and 2 losses in the group stages.

Mamelodi Sundowns has traveled to Egypt to go head to head with their rivalry, Al Ahly for their first group stage match this season.
This was one unpredictable match, while history indicated, Al Ahly knew how to win against Sundowns but the odds were on the South African champions side.
In today’s thrilling match, sundowns maintained their unbeaten run in the group staging with a draw against Al Ahly.
They remain top of the CAF group B table with 7 points, while Al Ahly struggles to get maximum points to continue in third place.

They traveled to Cameroon to meet and play against Coton Sport Football Club in the second group stage game of CAF 2023. While it wasn’t an easy win, Sundowns collected all three points with a 3 – 1 win in Cameroon.
This win consolidated their number one spot in the group stages of CAF as their journey to try to win the league for the second time continues.
