Current PSL Winners
The current reigning champions of the PSL are Mamelodi Sundowns. They won the 2022-2023 season after finishing on top of the league table. This is the sixth consecutive PSL title for Sundowns, who have established themselves as one of the most dominant teams in the league’s history.
DStv Premiership Prize Money
The league prize money has since been increased since the partnership with DStv and here’s how much the teams with get, based on their log positions.
The DStv + PSL partnership has a pool of R39,9 million to share among the participating and successful teams for the season.
Here’s how much the top 5 performing teams will get:
- Winners: R15 million
- Runners up (2nd Position) : R7,5 million
- Third Position: R3,75 million
- Fourth Position: R2.5 million
- Fifth Position: R1,8 million
Other Premier League Incentives
It has since been reported that the premier league offers participating clubs about R2 million each month from television broadcasting rights. This was introduced in the season 2018/19 and hopefully, this will continue with later seasons.
The league introduced the Q-Innovation incentive which bonuses the top performing clubs in every quarter of the league with R1,5 million. In this season, it would seem Sundowns will win all the Q-innovation prizes for their dominance in the league.
