Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung Jnr. vows to hire a new coach for the upcoming 2024/25 DStv Premiership season – will it be Pitso Mosimane? There is viral talk that Chiefs are looking to hire Mosimane as they look to replace Molefi Ntseki who was axed late last year.

Chiefs continue to struggle under interim coach Cavin Johnson and Motaung’s sentiments during a memorial service for late defender Luke Fleurs on Friday indicate that a new coach is coming. With the eighth-placed Soweto giants left with seven matches to finish their disastrous season as they have failed to win a trophy, Pitso’s name has been linked with Chiefs.

    Will Chiefs Hire Pitso Mosimane?

According to the former Chiefs striker, the club is looking for a seasoned mentor with a winning pedigree and Motaung added that they will look at the possibility of a major reshuffle.

The club’s sporting director, Motaung Jnr. states that they are focusing on their next game against Richards Bay on April 21 but they are working hard behind the scenes to employ a new manager. While he couldn’t reveal the possible names, talk is that Pitso is earmarked for the daunting task of changing the club’s fortunes.

Chiefs embarrassing Nedbank Cup exit in February means the ailing Soweto giants will go to a ninth campaign without silverware in 2023/24.

“There is definitely. It’s something we communicated from the onset — Cavin has stepped in on an interim basis and we’re committed to having a different technical structure next season,” said the Chiefs boss.

“I know we are focused on the next game and the next seven games and we have everything to play for. But yes, definitely the plans have long been in motion — we’ll be having a different technical structure next season. Well, you know, it’s our shortlist but who makes that shortlist? From our side, we’ve been preparing for a while now, and at the appropriate time we’ll make the right announcements.”

Chiefs: Motaung Jnr. Mum on Who is on Their Shortlist

Apart from Mosimane, the likes of Nasreddine Nabi is one of the top coaches headlining the links, but the Amakhosi boss opted to remain mum.

As the former PSL title champions, Chiefs are on the verge of clocking up a decade without silverware, the sporting director admits they are aware of their desperate situation.

“Like I said, the wheels have been in motion for quite a while now. We’re also not just looking at it as if it’s a one-man coach; we’re looking at it in terms of what we need and we’ll be making all the changes we need to make that are going to take us in the direction we need to go in,” he concluded.
