Richards Bay wasted no time in finding a replacement and appointed Brandon Truter as their new head coach ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season. Truter is not new to the club, having previously coached the team during their time in the second tier before moving to Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu, and Sekhukhune United.

    Vilakazi’s Departure: A Surprise Twist

Truter’s appointment comes after Vusumuzi Vilakazi, who had recently signed a new contract with the club after successfully steering them to safety through the PSL promotional/relegation playoffs, unexpectedly left the club. His departure was attributed to a disagreement with the club’s management following the arrival of new sponsors, Phakwe Gas.

    Disagreement Over New Sponsorship Deal

The new sponsors were keen on bringing in a more experienced coach, and Vilakazi was reportedly offered the assistant coach role under the new head coach. However, he declined the offer and opted to resign instead.

Richards Bay Appoints New Coach: A Strategic Move for the Club

Truter’s appointment is seen as a strategic move by the club, given his familiarity with Richards Bay and his experience in the PSL. The club’s management is confident that Truter will lead the team to greater heights in the upcoming season.

Coach Brandon Truter: Looking Towards the Future

While Vilakazi’s departure is a loss for the club, the appointment of Truter signals a new chapter for Richards Bay. The club is now focused on the future, with the new coach expected to bring fresh ideas and strategies to the team. The upcoming season promises to be exciting for Richards Bay fans, as they eagerly await the impact of their new coach.
