Amakhosi find rhythm at the right time

Kaizer Chiefs continued their resurgence in the Betway Premiership with a controlled 2–0 victory over TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium on 12 April 2026. The result marked a fourth consecutive league win for Amakhosi, underlining a growing sense of stability and belief within the squad as the season approaches its decisive stretch.

Coming into the match, Chiefs were building momentum after a series of improved performances, while Galaxy were looking to disrupt that rhythm and climb away from mid-table uncertainty. Instead, it was the home side who imposed themselves with authority, controlling key phases of the game and capitalising on their chances with clinical efficiency.

    First-half control rewarded

Chiefs started the match with intent, dominating possession and dictating the tempo through midfield. Their patience paid off in the 35th minute when striker Flávio Silva broke the deadlock. The forward showed sharp positioning inside the box, converting a well-worked attacking move to give Amakhosi a deserved lead.

The goal reflected Chiefs’ improved attacking cohesion, with fluid passing and intelligent movement unsettling the Galaxy defence. While the visitors attempted to respond, they struggled to create meaningful opportunities, often finding themselves contained by a disciplined Chiefs backline.

A brief interruption due to floodlight issues momentarily halted the flow of the game, but it did little to shift the balance. Chiefs resumed with the same composure, carrying their advantage into the halftime break.

    Lilepo seals the result

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Chiefs maintaining control and Galaxy searching for a breakthrough that never quite materialised. The visitors’ attacking efforts were largely restricted to speculative attempts, with only a handful of efforts troubling the goalkeeper.

Chiefs eventually doubled their lead in the 74th minute through Makabi Lilepo, who finished confidently to put the result beyond doubt. The goal not only secured the three points but also highlighted Chiefs’ ability to manage games effectively when in a winning position.

From that point on, the hosts managed the game professionally, limiting risks and ensuring there was no late resurgence from Galaxy.

    Tactical discipline makes the difference

A key feature of Chiefs’ performance was their tactical organisation. They maintained a compact defensive structure, cutting off passing lanes and forcing Galaxy into low-percentage attacking plays. This discipline translated into minimal threats on goal, with Galaxy registering very few clear-cut chances throughout the match.

In contrast, Chiefs were efficient in front of goal, making the most of their opportunities without overcommitting. Their balance between attack and defence has become increasingly evident during this winning run, suggesting a team that is growing in confidence and cohesion.

    What the result means

The victory strengthens Kaizer Chiefs’ position in the top three of the Betway Premiership standings, keeping them firmly in contention for a strong finish to the season. More importantly, it reinforces the sense that the team has found consistency at a crucial stage of the campaign.

For TS Galaxy, the defeat serves as a reminder of the gap they still need to close against the league’s in-form sides. While they showed moments of resilience, their lack of cutting edge in the final third ultimately cost them.

As the league season progresses, Chiefs will look to maintain this momentum and build on their winning streak, while Galaxy must regroup quickly to avoid slipping further down the table.
