Kaizer Chiefs had to fight hard for their 3-2 win over the relegation-threatened Maritzburg United

Chiefs started the game on a good note with an early goal from Keagan Dolly, followed by the second goal from their international striker Saile.

However, that 2-nil lead was cut short, when Maritzburg fought back and equalized from set pieces, before the half-time break. And the man of the match was given to the Maritzburg striker who was making Chiefs work harder for their win today

Let’s review and rate the Kaizer Chiefs players.

    Brandon Peterson 5/10

Brandon has managed to keep his position at competitive Kaizer Chiefs yet still fails to keep a clean sheet in most games. He should have done better with the goals against Chiefs, yet put some stops on dangerous balls from the Maritzburg strikers

    Dove Wome 6.3/10

Dove is usually solid rock at the back and helped the team defensively to prevent the Maritzburg troublesome strikers. He also pushes for those forward passes trying to reach the strikers while keeping an eye with confidence at the back.

    Zitha Kwinika 4.5/10

Another good defender but not very solid in today’s game. He conceded a foul just outside the 18-yard area, which led to Maritzburg’s second goal from a set piece. he could do better and improve his game.

    Dillan Soloms 6/10

Dillan returned to the starting line-up today after missing some games and offered both the defending and attacking options for the Chiefs against Maritzburg today. Always made those wing runs and added to the Chief’s attacking force.

    Sfiso Hlanti 7/10

Always in the starting lineup, playing as a wing-back. While his main role is to defend, he’s over making those runs to the front to deliver those much-needed crosses for the strikers.

    Siyethemba Sithebe 6.5/10

Sithebe gave a good performance in the defensive midfield role but can improve his forward passing game and linking the backline with attackers.

    Yusuf Maart 8.3/10

Maart plays an important defensive role in the midfield and those long passes to the strikers. He continues to impress in every game and is appreciated by the supporters.

    Keagan Dolly 7.8/10

Dolly opened the scores with the first goal within just a few minutes of the game. He’s a great player but has been sloppy in the final third passes, mostly going wide, instead of finding the strikers at the frontline.

    Mduduzi Shabalala 7/10

The young player gives the team energetic movements, linking the midfield with attacking strikers. In today’s game, Mduduzi has a few shots at goal, and missed touches, especially in the final third. He still needs to grow into that attacking midfield role.

    Christian Saile 8.5/10

Saile scored the second goal, taking the Maritzburg defenders head-on for the solo goal from outside the 18 areas. He’s fast and always presses the defenders when Chiefs don’t have the ball, forcing them to make mistakes.

    Ashley Du Preez 8.9/10

While he wasn’t in the score sheet, Du Preex created to assist for the scored goals and a penalty. This shows he was all over the defenders, making those runs into the right spaces.
