The US Open 2024 Tennis Championships is making history with a substantial increase of 20% in prize money for its athletes across all categories. This move not only demonstrates the tournament’s commitment to fair compensation but also reflects the growing prestige of tennis on the global stage.

US Open 2024 Tennis Championship Prize Money Increase

In a move that delighted tennis players, the 2024 US Open Tennis Championships announced a substantial increase in prize money across all categories. The men’s and women’s singles champions will now receive a staggering $3.6 million each (R66 million), a 20% increase from the previous year. Even players who lose in the first round of the main draw will take home a generous $100,000 (R1.8 million), marking a remarkable 72% increase since 2019.

    US Open Prize Money:

    • Champion: $3,600,000 (R66 million)
    • Runner-up: $1,800,000 (R33 million)
    • Semifinalists: $1,000,000 (R18,4 million)
    • Quarterfinalists: $530,000 (R9.7 million)
    • Round of 16: $325,000 (R5 million)
    • Round of 32: $215,000 (R3.9 million)
    • Round of 64: $140,000 (R2.5 million)
    • Round of 128 (First Round): $100,000 (R1.8 million)

    A Boost for Players

The substantial increase in prize money, especially the 72% jump for first-round losers since 2019, reflects the tournament’s dedication to supporting players at all levels. This move not only incentivizes participation but also helps to alleviate the financial burden often faced by lower-ranked players.

A Testament to the US Open Tournament’s Prestige

As one of the most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments in the world, the US Open attracts the best tennis talent globally. By offering such lucrative prize money, the tournament further solidifies its position as a premier sporting event, ensuring top-tier competition and thrilling matches for fans worldwide.
