Mamelodi Sundowns are keen to land the signature of AmaZulu winger and reports doing the rounds indicate that Usuthu demand R12 million for their player. Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is said to be impressed by Moremi after showing excellent displays under coach Pablo Franco Martin.
Moremi has also been one of the star performers for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit in the DStv Premiership. Following his displays, Moremi was also included in the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the FIFA International Series friendlies in Algeria last month.
While he failed to cut as Hugo Broos announced his final 23-member squad, Moremi has impressed and the Belgian considers the winger one for the future.
Will Moremi Leave Amazulu and Join Sundowns?
According to football publications, Moremi is poised to dump Usuthu and move to Chloorkop as Sundowns mentor, and Mokwena is seriously impressed.
A source close to Phakaaathi reveals that Mokwena has asked the Sundowns management to table an offer for Moremi at the end of the season, will the reigning league champions fork out a staggering R12 million?
“Coach Mokwena likes Moremi very much and would like him to join Sundowns. He has let the management know that he wants him,” said the source.
Judging by his contribution, Moremi has only missed one game in AmaZulu’s 23 league matches played so far this campaign. The fact that he is an ever-present in the AmaZulu starting line-up is a sign that he is a key member of Martin’s squad and Sundowns would have to fork a lot of money to land him.
Amazulu Quote Pirates and Sundowns R10-12 Million for Moremi
Meanwhile, it is reported that Sundowns will battle it out against Orlando Pirates for the talented winger. The Buccaneers are also said to be preparing to table a bid for the hard-working player.
“You know, for now, it will be who is the highest bidder (between Pirates and Sundowns) because of the money issues,” said a source to Soccer-Laduma. “The club has evaluated the player (Moremi), and since he is still young and very talented, his value is up there. I understand it’s around R10 million to R12 million.”
“That’s not bad for a player the team has developed by themselves from a junior (age). But as I have said, it will all depend on the highest bidder. As for now, it’s between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.”
Sundowns also Battling Pirates to Land Mokwana’s Signature?
Moreover, this publication understands that both Pirates and Sundowns are in a tug-of-war for another promising Bafana star, Elias Mokwana. Mokwana was in action for the 1996 African champions against Algeria and Andorra where he impressed with his runs into the final third.
Currently contracted to Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership, the youngster is reportedly keen to sign for Kaizer Chiefs instead of Pirates and Sundowns.
Various football publications reveal that Mokwana has a soft spot for Amakhosi amid interest from the Buccaneers and Masandawana. After doing well in the South African lower division with Platinum City Rovers, Babina Noko came knocking and he has continued where he left off.
However, the Polokwane-based club is said to have placed a substantial R35m price tag on their most prized asset.
“Ah, I don’t know about my price tag,” the 24-year-old told iDiski Times. “I’m just here to play football you know, I don’t know – it will go with my agent and my team because I’m still contracted to them.”
