Orlando Pirates Football Club has officially confirmed that they have reached a mutual agreement to release midfielder Lesedi Kapinga from his contract. The decision was made following a meeting between the club and the player earlier on Tuesday, 17 September 2024.
Limited Playing Time for Lesedi Kapinga
Kapinga joined the Buccaneers ahead of the 2023/24 season with high hopes but struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup. Despite his talent and potential, he made only a limited number of appearances, mainly as a substitute, failing to make the desired impact.
Orlando Pirates Official Statement
In an official statement, Orlando Pirates stated, “Both parties have agreed to amicably part ways. On behalf of the extended Orlando Pirates family, we would like to thank Lesedi for his time at the Club and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Kapinga’s departure marks another exit from Orlando Pirates this season, following players like Vincent Pule and Thabang Monare. The club is undergoing a squad reshuffle, aiming to create space for new signings and improve the team’s performance.
Pirates Transfers: Future Uncertain
Kapinga’s next move remains uncertain, but the talented midfielder will undoubtedly be seeking a new club where he can secure regular playing time and reignite his career. Several clubs may express interest in the 28-year-old, considering his skills and experience.
Orlando Pirates will continue their season without Kapinga and focus on strengthening their squad in the upcoming transfer windows. The club aims to build a competitive team capable of challenging for trophies in domestic and continental competitions.
