While there are still seven (7) games still to be played in the DStv premier soccer league, it has been mathematically calculated that Mamelodi Sundowns FC only needs one win to be crowned champions.

Mind you, they’ll be winning the league championship for the sixth consecutive time, before all league games are played and the season is closed.

Let’s jump right in and look at the log standings and how it’s calculated for Sundowns to win the league championship.

Here are the top 5 teams in the DStv PSL league table with their points values.

    [league-log-standings]

When you take a closer look at points, you’ll notice Sundowns is currently sitting at the top with 59 points and only 2 losses this season.

While Supersport United is sitting with 39 points, which means they’ll need to win all their remaining games to match Sundown’s current points.

Here’s how we calculated the points value

    • Wins (3) X 7 Remaining Games = 21 Points
    • 21 + 39 = 60 Points

Mind you, this is before Sundowns could play their remaining 7 games. So this would mean, Sundowns only need one win or two draws to be crowned the 2023 DStv champions, again.

The DStv premier league has become easy for Sundowns to win, in the last 5 seasons.
